• Hmmm, must be a 50's model B then but your not finding the right date code. It will be a small oval with a number and a letter inside of it, are you sure none of the circles you've found don't also have a number, the A would make sense if it had a number with it.
• Without a serial number,I can only say that the savage model 340was made from 1950-1985.If you would include the type ofsights,barrel,barrel length,and stock design It would better helpme in deciding with in which years your savage model 340 wasproduced.

It is possable that is the complete serial number.Savage made10,000 rifles in the first year of production 1899.I need to knowif it says model of 1899 thou.If there is a model 99A,B,E,H,F,Gmarked on your rifle?these represent the different models of themodel 99.The early model 1899 rifles could be marked model1899A,B,C,D(Military),F,or H models.Please include this info andthe caliber that is. Savage 389: Made by an Italian Company for Savage, like the 2400 it was shotgun over rifle in configuration.
